DSDN 142 P3 - Final Colour Scheme
This is my final colour scheme for my interactive project i chose these colours as they contrast well together and transition smoothly between eachother when changed. The reason i changed my background from black to white is it looks a lot crisper in white and the particles change opacity naturally when they speed up on a white background but not on black, this gives a cool rapid look.

DSDN 142 P3 - Random Direction Change
The reason I have made my particles randomly change direction instead of the user controlling it is because i was advised to use more interaction rather than control and minimise clicking as much as possible.

DSDN 112 P2B - Storyboard
1. Friend 1 txts Friend 2 if he wants to meet up for lunch before their next class up at kelburn campass.
2. Friend 2 agress and asks where Friend 1 would like to eat lunch.
3. Friend 1 replies with "Subway".
4. Friend 1 is waiting outside Subway on Vivian St with no sign on Friend 2.
5. Friend 1 txts Friend 2 to ask where he is.
6. Friend 2 is standing outside of Subway on Manners St when he receives the txt message.
7. Friend 2 replies "Subway, where are you?"
8. Realising that Friend 2 is at a different subway, Friend 1 uses the "Friend Finder" option on his app to find Friend 2.
9. Friend 1 finds Friend 2 and they have lunch at Subway Manners St.
10. Friend 1 uses app to find route to Kelburn campass and walks there with Friend 2.

DSDN 142 P3 - Combination
I have decided to combine my "Four Corners" idea with my "Shooting Particles" idea. The particles start off by shooting down from the top left corner and after a certain timeframe change direction to firing up from bottom right corner and does the same for the other 2 corners. If the user clicks the mouse during this time the particles will change colour and size. I might try to make every indivdual particle its own colour but am worried it might come across as a rainbow effect and too much strain on the users eyes, also coming off a bit tacky.

DSDN 142 P3 - Gravity Particle Test
This is my first attempt at particles kind of, although they appear to look like particles they are actually just tiny ellipses moving at a high speed giving the illusion of particles. What i have done is spawn a particle every time the user moves the mouse, the particles fall as if they are affected by gravity but the gravity spontaneously changes inverting forcing the particles to shoot up, this effect loops continously. I tried applying a colour scheme but the particles rapidly change colour if a randomizer is applied so i'm stuck with the one colour at the moment.

DSDN 142 P3 - Optional Colour Scheme
This is just an optional colour scheme made in Photoshop. Because i'm using particles I wanted to use bright colours against a dark background. I think the particles will look really good when speeding along really fast because of the bright colours.
DSDN 112 P2 - 200 Words
I’m
Lost App
My interactive application is a simple navigation device designed
for a smartphone that directs the user to their desired location by multiple
methods. The first method uses the camera as a live feed displaying in real
time a giant arrow on screen pointing to the direction of the desired
destination. The second method uses pre-installed maps displaying at a bird’s
eye view in real time an arrow representing the user to show the path the user
must undertake in order to reach their destination. The primary special feature
of this application is the “Where am I?” option; The user takes four photos
using the smartphone camera in four opposite directions, preferably in front/behind
and left/right the app then calculates the users whereabouts by using
pre-installed street view maps by recognizing certain patterns in building
structures and landmarks, similar to facial recognition or fingerprint scanning.
All of these methods eliminate the need to have an internet connection or the
use of satellites. The final feature is the “Friend Finder” option. This allows
the user to track down and meet up with any of the users friends that also have
the app and have it activated eliminating the need to explain where they are
and where to meet etc.

DSDN 112 P2 - Background
I designed this background because i felt it represented data being transported between two objects like a satelitte does with a phone.

DSDN 142 P3 - Interaction 2
When creating my first interaction i came across a cool technique which when the paricles are attracted to the mouse and follow it around they are inverted in a different way each time the user clicks. It is hard to show in the image above but for example the blue particles follow the mouse correctly verticallly but its left and right are inverted so the particles repel when the mouse is moving left or right.
DSDN 142 P3 - Interaction 1
This is my first attempt at creating my interaction. I started off by have particels come on the screen from the top left corner and exit the screen in the bottom right corner then repeat itself (as seen in top picture). I then added a mouse pressed function where each time the mouse is pressed the particles change colour and come in from a different corner exiting in its opposite corner (as seen in second picture).
DSDN 142 P3 - Storyboard
This storyboard illustrates my first idea for an interactive program. It begins with particles rushing through the screen beginning at the top left corner and gradually rotating around the entire stage. Once the mouse is pressed the particles begin rushing and sticking too the mouse all whilst still rotating around the stage, if at during this stage the mouse's position changes the partilces will tightly follow and continue to bunch up. If the mouse is pressed again the particels rapidly disperse away from the mouse.

DSDN 142 - Inspiration
Left click attracts, right click repels, space bar resets in different position and enter does something.
This is a perfect example of what i'm trying to accomplish it is completely unpredictable yet able to grasp almost instantly, keeps the user's interest for an impressive ammount of time. The main trait that this example has in common with my idea is that it uses particles, i will try to recreate some of the movements of these particles in my project.
DSDN 112 P2 - Flash Practice
I started playing around with flash and tried to get a grasp of how to create buttons, i succeded in making my first button worked but when i tried the same process on my second button it compromised the first and just kept looping i searched this problem on the internet but was unsuccessful in finding a solution. I may have to try a different approach in making buttons, instead of making them "movie clips" and applying code i'll try rendering them as "buttons"

DSDN 142 P3 - Precedents
I chose this precedent because it is the perfect example of interaction with a little bit of control, keeping the user interested for an extended period of time.

DSDN 142 P2 - Final
This is my final layout for project 2, I have started off with a small amount of triangles, fairly spaced apart that gradually get more compacted and overlap eachother. There are two layers of triangles, red triangles and black triangles, both are at 100 opacity. My first image expresses structure because the beginning trianlges are easily identified as triangles as they are not overlapping. My final image has many triangles overlapping making it hard to identify them as triangles which expresses noise.

DSDN 142 P2 - Background
I tried putting a pattern in the background and immediately did not like it, so i am not going to explore this technique any further as i feel i am taking a step backwards.

DSSN 142 - Stoke Test
I tried using a stroke around the triangles just as a test i feel it added much more noise and made the images look crispier but kinda drew the eye too much and distracted from the opacity.

DSDN 142 P2 - Third Attempt
I tried changing the background to black and replacing the black triangles with white triangles (kinda inversing) to see the comparison. I also tried removing the pink triangles and got a much smoother result.
DSDN 142 P2 - Second Attempt
I continued testing my program, i decided to add an extra set of triangles rendered with a different colour but not sure if I like it more than just with two colours.

DSDN 142 P2 - First Attempt
For my program I began experimenting with triangles overlaying eachother at different opacities and really liked the effect. I chose the colours red and black/grey because i really like the contrast between a bright primary colour and a plain shade (black/white).
